IPHA Organization Update

Grant to Idaho Public Health Association Strengthens Idaho
Response to Emerging Public Health Threats

IPHA is at a unique juncture in its history with the receipt of a three-year, $90,000.00 grant from the
APHA Affiliate Capacity-Building Initiative.  This award was made possible by support from the W.K.
Kellogg Foundation and the dedication of public health professionals in Idaho who invested their
time, energy and resources in IPHA over the past 55 years.

The IPHA capacity-building initiative has three primary objectives. These are to:
    1) enhance the public health workforce by strengthening connections
    between students, educators, and practitioners;
    2) partner with public health organizations and professionals to
    advocate for evidenced-based health policies; and
    3) assure the organizational capacity needed to serve its members and
    the community.

These resources provide the Idaho Public Health Association, in partnership with public health
professionals throughout the state, with the means to enhance and protect the quality of life we enjoy
in Idaho. The APHA grants were part of a $5.9 million grant received from the W.K. Kellogg
Foundation in 2006.
